Norman McLaren - Dots (1940)
After seeing Len Lye and OsKar Fischinger at the SFMOMA, I am getting into old motion graphics pieces from the 1930’s-50’s. I stumbled upon this gold by Norman McLaren.
With all the technology against them, these pioneers made things that I am still in awe of today…
I think over spring break I will try to make some real motion graphics pieces in these styles with stop motion and painting on film. Gold
I arrived Jan 21st 2007 in San Francisco, started the Academy of Art University Jan 29th 2007 and now, in 2010, I will finish… who knows when I will be leaving SF, who knows where I will go, if I will stay or what Job I will get…
All I know is that life is going to be a little more variable in the next few months…

ストロングマシン２号 (strong machine 2 -her dad is strong machine 1) is one of the most amazing dancers I have ever seen. Not just cause of the dancing, but also the projects she works on.
Polysics used her for their music video I My Me Mine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9wSMuCJCkQ) where I first saw her.
If you search for her (or her real name Mao Murakami http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_Murakami) you will find amazing commercials and videos she has worked on.
The one above is one of my favs, I love the dad, I love the slow mo and I love her cheeky confidence…

some people are lucky, some people arent. i have found what i love and i think that puts me in the lucky list.
i am an australian vfx artist, currently living in san francisco usa. i have lived in some amazing places including japan and england
i graduate the academy of art in the school of animation and visual effects (majoring in composting) in 2010 and then the world is this portly man's oyster.
working as an IT project manager in australia, i got my graduate certificate in IT project management from the university of technology sydney.
i love vfx and i love our industry. i am very lucky to have found people that seem to love it too. working with vfx people, we all seem to have this smile that we are doing something fun that the rest of the world doesnt seem to know even exists.
so yes, i am pretty lucky.
