I led conceptual development and spatial design for this large-scale immersive light installation. Created the intital story and pre-visualization animations to test light patterns and movement, then directed on-site installation working with Digital Ambiance to realize the 100-foot light curtain within Grace Cathedral's historic architecture
Grace Light, a large-scale immersive light installation with an original score. “Filling the iconic Grace Cathedral with a mesmerizing curtain of moving light and music.”
The 100-foot curtain of shifting light offers an extraordinary, almost other-worldly experience. As light emanates from the uppermost eaves directly above Grace Cathedral’s famed labyrinth, a slight atmospheric haze envelopes viewers in a colossal curtain of gorgeously shifting light.
Selling out instantly, Grace Light was
Release - Receive - Return
The Concept: Grace Light transforms Grace Cathedral's iconic labyrinth—traditionally a walking meditation—into a vertical, immersive light experience. Visitors lie within the labyrinth and are enveloped in a 100-foot curtain of shifting light emanating from above, creating a space for contemplation and connection.
The work explores themes of release, receive and return—inviting viewers to let go, absorb the experience and emerge transformed.
Pre-Visualization Process & INSTALLATION
Working with George Ziziadis and Gabriel Gold, I created animated pre-visualizations to test different light patterns, movements and atmospheric effects before installation. These animations allowed us to experiment with timing, intensity and emotional pacing of the 35-minute journey.
Digital Ambience did an unbelievable job of installing and managing all the tech that would allow us to create this magical experience.
